It’s late, I’m tired but I just have to say that YES I am pissed off at the Tooth Fairy. My son has been waiting so long to lose his first tooth, being 6 and in first grade he is one of the last kids in his class to actually get a wiggly tooth.
He has watched with tears in his eyes as his sister has cashed in her little teeth for the money he so badly wants.
He went to bed last night with his bottom tooth very loose and despite my pleads to go to sleep, he spent the next half hour in bed playing and tugging on that tooth till it came out.
The problem? I was ill prepared, it was late and his tooth fairy didn’t provide the bells and whistles my daughters did- a personalized letter introducing herself, glitter on the pillow with a small track to the window…. you get the picture… poor second child…
At least the tooth fairy remembered to tuck a dollar under the pillow of my golden haired snoring child (yes, the tooth fairy forgot to do so once for my daughter…. ouch!). The pride in his face for that first tooth and the excited to call to the grandparents to share his big news still fresh in my mind.
UNTIL 2 a.m. rolls around.. and I wake to my crying child clutching his one dollar bill literally climbing on me (and scares the begebbes out of me might I add). He was so disappointed that he only got $1.00 that he needed to come wake me up to inform me that all the kids in school get $5.00 and a toy from their tooth fairy.
COME ON PEOPLE!! I used to be excited to get a quarter, my husband remembers getting a nickle… what the heck are tooth fairies doing delivering $5.00 a tooth! What is the point of giving that much money? Is it about the money? Is it about the wonder of tooth fairy magic? WHY, WHY, WHY??? Now I’m disappointed!
So after many cuddles and any reasoning I could muster while half asleep that fell on deaf ears anyway, he finally fell back to sleep in my bed with my heart breaking about his disappointment, wondering if I should change our own standards to “keep up with the jones next door”.
But if I do then what next and isn’t this how people got to this point? “Your tooth fairy gives your kid a dollar? Our tooth fairy gives a $1.25.. Well our tooth fairy gives $5.00…..”
Bottom line, as a parent, you don’t enjoy seeing your child sad. Especially when you have the expectation of that magic moment when they run down the stairs eyes glowing that the tooth fairy found them and it doesn’t happen. The morning was quiet and we’re walking on egg shells, afraid to even mention the tooth for fear of another crying heart broken episode. This isn’t how it’s supposed to happen.
So yes, I am still pissed off at the Tooth Fairy.

Tanner has finally started to really enjoy her bath time. I have always preferred to do tubby time before bed in my house as part of their night time routine. The hard part of being the youngest now is that I tend to have six additional hands that all want to help and while I don’t want to discourage the kids loving their sister and helping it does made this “wind down” time rather chaotic.
I’ve been trying to wait until the other kids are in bed then draw Tanner a warm tub and spend some one on one time and finish with a little baby massage before putting her jammies on then finishing with her nightly nurse down or sometimes a bottle from dad.

We all know that keeping things steamy with your spouse can be harder then it should be when you factor in pure exhaustion, un-relenting schedules, kids in and out of your bed all hours of the night.
However, I have not met a women yet that doesn’t think it’s important to remember to have fun adult time to re-connect and remember how important you are to one another. During a playground conversation this week women started to share their very personal thoughts on how they “get in the mood”.
It’s not rocket science, but we all know that sometimes… well… after having kids hanging and pawing at you all day… sometimes the last thing you want is one more person touching you. So it helps if you psch yourself up.
Five real life moves you can do today for big results
- Think about it.. while making lunch or the bed…. think about enjoying one on one time
- Take a shower and shave your legs.. I know easier said then done but I’m not meaning a quick in and out before the kids start killing eachother. Wait until after they are in bed and take a nice shower to perk up or a soothing tub and enjoy your own time before trying to share your time again.
- Dress for the day. Make an effort to not wear yoga wear all day long and actually get dressed like you won’t be covered in yogurt, dirt and spit up by 5 p.m.
- Be aware of your underware. This is one that rung true with most women in our impromptu playground research. If you dress in sexy under garmets and feel good about yourself you carry that sexiness all day and can’t wait to share. Some women even like to call and tell their husbands what they are wearing so he has something to look forward to. So take those old maternity panties and chuck them today- yes one mom confessed to still wearing them 9 months post-baby because they were so comfortable….she promised us all to make them disappear for her husbands sake. One of my favorite sites is Graffiti Pink check out their fun and daring store
- Send a sexy note. Use your discretion you don’t want him to get busted at work, but a nice playful note goes a long way to bring some flirting back.
Bonus: Be confident and flaunt your mommy body. Many women worry about their husbands views of their post-baby body, a little love roll here… a stretch mark there… but if you ask the men? They don’t even see that, they see a wife they love and all she is. The more confident you are, the sexier they find you. So go ahead and flaunt it, he’ll thank you in many ways!

I, like many others, had the UTube video about what a mom says in a day delivered to my inbox. I can’t help but watch again and again and feel better that we are all the same.

My day today was all planned out, a Monday to start getting things rolling again after not working much over the weekend. Had a list of work related tasks to get done and overall plans for a productive day. I should have known…
One of the first things planned was to hit the RMV while I only had the two babies to register the new truck. I had spent an entire afternoon last week with the insurance company to get all the right forms and the right information to the right places.
Everything came in the mail over the weekend so I placed everything on the counter monday morning and instructed my dear husband where to sign what while I got toys, snacks and drinks and once last nursing session in since you never know how long it will take and packed up the little ones. We arrived at the RMV and spent 40 minutes waiting-singing-snacking- bouncing the heavy car seat to keep lilypie happy FINALLY my number.
We gather our belongings and walk into the office. The woman looks at all the paperwork and lalalalala, my Dear husband neglected to sign the back of the title…yes, the one I had put on the counter this morning and I saw he had in his hand so I never actually CHECKED. SOOOO, gather the belongings again, back in the car when the cell phone rings- business call- trying to speak to someone when 3 year old decides he needs to potty BAD so now we’re doing an emergency tinkle break in the car (good things boys are easy that way) while I balance a cell phone and play a game of charades with the three old praying he has good aim.
Finally get back on the road for the 25 minute ride to my husbands job site so he can sign the title. Now, I have to admit, I did contemplate just signing that one line since he signed everything else, but I’m a wimp and too afraid of getting caught and getting in trouble and YES I know it is illegal…. but it would just be so easy this once….. so we continued the 50 minute round trip and came back to the registry and at least the woman was nice and didn’t make me wait again. So all in all, our entire day was spent in the car since when we finally got home it was time to go pick the kids up from school.
All my wonderful plans of accomplishments will now need to wait until tomorrow, the down side and the up side of working from home.
My husband did feel guilty and looked like a puppy dog with his tail between his legs, and it IS his birthday…. so I’ll look back on this next week and laugh… maybe.

November 3, 2007 | Leave a Comment
I just want to remember for a moment the time when a blah rainy day was a good excuse to lie on the couch with a book, pot of tea and relaxing music and maybe a drift off to peaceful slumber….
Today my blah rainy day includes playing referee, very loud playstation, cushions off the couch on the floor for the fort, train set in the middle of living room floor, the pantry constantly being raided for snacks (with wrappers left here, there & everywhere), my computer time designated to printing coloring pages and word searches in pirate and princess themes, and hearing “I’m bored” for the umpteenth time no matter what I suggest for games or activity…..

The title sounds a little harsh- but ughh. First I had to eliminate any caffine (making me grumpy in the morning without my java), but now with all this halloween candy around I’ve discovered the chocolate is just as bad. So poor mom, with no caffine, chocolate or wine and still no sleep?? What girl does this to her mother? She’s lucky she’s so cute.
