Blog Ping List

In my post earlier regarding upgrading my Wordpress Blog I mentioned that I lost my ping list….well, I found it! For anyone else that wants an easy copy and past ping list select the links below, enter your Wordpress admin page and paste the list below in the appropriate ping box.

I just ask that you use this list the smart way, like mom always says “it only takes a couple bad apples to ruin the bunch”- please don’t be a ping spammer….

For the new blogger you may ask what a ping is, according to Pingoat they simplify the definition as:

—-There are certain services that scans blog regulary for updates and publishes the recently updated blogs (for an example). So once you’ve updated your blog, you should let such a service know that you have your blog has been updated. For this, you send a PING to the service. Most blog software has the ability to ping on their own. But pinging a dozen such services could be time consuming.

A blog ping is just a piece of text, in simple words. It’ll contain your blog name and the url. It is usually prepared in the XML format. The servers that accept ping have special programs for accepting and processing these ‘XML pings’. —–

While you can submit your url it is often better to submit your entire RSS feeds in some blog services. But wait, back up….. what is an RSS?

RSS- Really Simple Syndication, you know the little orange button you see all over the web? This button allows you to subscribe to get the blogs content automatically delivered to a feed reader. This puts all the information in place for you and eliminates you needing to go to every website and checking for updates. I personally use FeedBurner who is now a Google company. Yes, It’s free.

RSS works to get your content delivered to your subscribers (people who like and follow your posts) inbox- fast, easy, spam free and almost always spam blocked free. You can check out a great post with more detail on what RSS is on DNN Creative Magazine then they provide another useful post on how to use RSS.

If your searching for another list of places to submit your RSS feeds, although it is labor intensive, it is an effective way to build one way links click on over to the Blog Search Engine. Like any huge list of online links, some are dead and some are not free, but it’s worth scrolling through them and submitting where you can.

If you are an Article Marketer, don’t forget to submit your Ezine Article feeds! You need to click on your “Expert Author” link that will bring up your page with all the articles you have written. The RSS feed button is in the top corner, click and copy the URL that will end in .xml. It should have both rss and xml in it, then head over to good ole Pingoat or your favorite ping list and submit your copied URL into the two fields for “blog url” and “XML feed” then Ping away!

Why go through the effort of Pinging? Again, pinging will send out an invitation to the various networks that might look a little like “Hey spiders, something new is over there let’s go check it out” and will lead to a surge of traffic. Hopefully, if that traffic lands you in the right place in front of the right audience, people will click along through your content or your article bio box.
