Sky Is Limit with Halloween Costumes
September 24, 2008 | 1 Comment

Halloween costumes started flying in my house at the beginning of September as the back to school supplies where replaced with Halloween costumes and decorations.
With four kids, I have a full trunk of past Halloween kids costumes but none of them will satisfy the trends and desires of this years imagination.
I have to admit, my husband and I often ask “what happened to the creativity of handmade costumes of painted sweatpants and turtlenecks?”
Yes, these questions are because I hate paying $25.00 at Walmart for a costume that is shoddy and cheap plastic and will fall apart the week before Halloween so I decided this year I would be better and better prepared for Halloweeen.
Then finding a toddler costume that ms. muffet can walk and be warm in will be a challenge in itself. Costumes that FIT the right kid so we don’t end up with the skinned knee on the other side of the neighborhood and they have costumes that can be used again and again for dress up time unlike some of the cheap “costumes” found in the general stores.
It’s been years since we went to a “Big People” costume party. In fact, the last one I went to I wore my horseback riding chaps and boots and was booed out of the party of “lack of effort”… hey, I washed the manure off the boots!
My personal bet is that the “Igor” costume will be popular this Halloween with the release of the new Igor movie! But the most important part is kids being safe so don’t forget to check out the safety tips for Halloween!

I am catching up on some past media! I am thrilled to announce that the Tubby Bundle baby towel apron was chosen as one of the Top Picks by Parents and Kids Magazine!
A true honor, especially when we weren’t expecting it! The Parents and Kids Magazine, known online as Wicked Local Parents is a free publication distributed in the suburbs of greater Boston.
Other local moms that were featured included 4 Sister Soaps and Jumble Word Spin-off
I was surprised to see Wee Kids Music in the Parents and Kids Magazine Product Reviews since I have three of these CDS and my kids LOVE them! I got my kids music cds as bring home gifts when both the Wee Kids Music booth and my Tubby Bundle booth were in the same aisle at the ABC Kids Expo a couple years ago.
This information packed magazine is always filled with the local happenings and great low cost or free family outting trips and events.

Keyword Country Reviewed Inside Out
Using KeywordCountry for keyword research is just like searching on Google. Yes, you get the relevant keyword results right away with all the details that you need to be successful with AdSense! Just imagine Google suggesting keywords for your website! Well, this is what you will feel while searching keywords via Keyword Country.
This is not all! I strongly feel that Keyword Country seems to have discovered a way through which it can suggest keywords that attract traffic, get more clicks, and fetch you more EPC.
Keyword Country positions itself as a Keyword Search Engine. And quite obviously, I was more than curious to test whether or not the product stands up to what it commits. Here is what I found:
In fact, I have been keeping an eye on Keyword Country for quite some time now. I must say when Keyword Country started off, it was not so striking. But, their latest version seems to have done the trick!
Just type-in a keyword in KeywordCountry, and you have millions of relevant keywords within a few seconds, each with key details like:
- Max CPC
- Number of Advertisers
- Number of Clicks per month
- Estimated EPC
- Number of competitors
- KEI Analysis
- R/S Ratio
- Number of Searches (according to Overture)
- Traffic on Google (estimated) and much more!

Keyword Country is really user friendly. In fact, using it is as easy as walking down a smooth lane in the bright sunshine with both the eyes wide open. More importantly, what impressed me a lot is the way Keyword Country produces thousands of high paying keywords and niche keywords in the blink of an eye.
Keyword Country allows you to search for keywords in 3 different ways via Basic Search, Advanced Search, and Price Range Search. At the outset, I thought they are shuffling the same keywords in the three different searches. But no! The results are actually search specific, and enable you to choose the best keywords that suit your requirements. There is no cheating in their search results.
I was planning for an auto loan, so I tried the keyword loan, I just typed the keyword in BASIC Search and I got 21,086 relevant keywords within a few seconds, each with key details like Max CPC, Number of Advertisers, Number of Clicks per month, Estimated EPC, Number of competitors, KEI Analysis, R/S Ratio, Number of Searches (according to Overture), and Traffic on Google.
I was really impressed by the relevancy of the keywords that I found. The results are so relevant that you can actually export the list and use it right away in your website without even filtering out any record. However, the results become a bit irrelevant as you dig deep into the list (just like in a search engine). But, I must say that the results seem to have been sorted by humans, and not by software. It is more like stealing the keyword research from a professional SEO.
Not just this, I had another option of choosing high paying keywords from 206 different sub-categories for the search term - Loan. I picked - Auto loan, and Keyword Country listed 1,257 keywords for the sub-category - Auto loan.
Price Range Searching is another remarkable feature Keyword country boasts. This search enables you to search for the keywords within a specific price range. One of the key advantages of this kind of a search is that it brings forth lots of low priced, hidden keywords that are really profitable. Besides, you can brainstorm new ideas for AdSense as well.
Above all things, it is the Advanced Searching option that makes Keyword Country a bit special. I think these guys have really thought hard! This time they have come up with a tool that allows you to do in-depth research for each keyword. Offering a variety of searching options just like Wild Cards of Google, Advanced Searching can sort results on the basis of Max CPC, Average CPC, Searches, Sponsors, or anything else you like.
After going through Keyword Country videos, Advanced Search starts making a lot of sense and you really get the hang of the powers of KCs Advanced Search tool.

Sort the results by Rating, and KC will give you only profitable keywords. Sort the results by Clicks per month, and you will get the keywords that attract the most clicks for Google. Just integrate these keywords in your website, and you will increase the chances of getting more CTR. Furthermore, there are many more types of keywords that you can find out with Keyword Country. Just run through the Keyword Country videos for complete details.
Here are links to all the videos:
- Finding high paying keywords
- Finding Traffic attracting keywords
- Finding High CTR keywords
- Choosing better anchor text
- User manual of KC
Besides, you can customize your search the way you want. Whether you type in a search query, or you search the keywords without typing in a search query Keyword Country generates hordes of keywords spanning different industries. I wont hesitate to say that I found such a tool after a long long time! Well Done!
One of the most striking features of this software is Blank Search. Now, this is one feature that I have not seen anywhere else. Blank Search allows you to reach the most searched keywords on planet earth, most clicked keywords that exist, most high paying keywords, and most low competition high value keywords. Just leave the keyword field blank in Advanced Search, and Keyword Country will give you such amazing lists. This feature makes Keyword Country really outstanding. I cant believe they are selling its access so cheap!
They claim to be a Keyword Search Engine. I believe they have already achieved what they claim. And they are still making it better and better day by day. I am sure they can make their product even more special.
Keyword Countrys the Good and the Bad
The Good
- Its not a Keyword list or keyword software, its a Keyword Search Engine.
- Highly relevant keyword results that work. And all this, within a few seconds!
- Displays everything you need to be successful with AdSense
- Maximum CPC
- Estimated EPC
- Number of Sponsors
- Number of Clicks per month
- Profitability rankings
- Number of competitors
- Traffic on Overture
- Traffic on Google (estimated)
- KEI Analysis, R/S Ratio
- Most searched keywords that exist on planet earth
- Most clicked keywords
- Most high paying keywords
- Most low competition high value keywords
- Anchor texts that work
The Bad
- Database conks out at times, but the frequency has reduced tremendously.
- Keyword map can be quite confusing because of its depth.
- Does not allow any keyword additions to database.
Wireless Keyboard and Mouse
June 3, 2008 | 1 Comment
Why, oh why did it take me so long to break down and buy a wireless keyboard and mouse for laptop?? Hmmm.. good question but boy I think I’m going to write for the next four days straight.

I have a desktop that I can’t believe I bought when I was pregnant with my son (yup 7 years ago…isn’t that ancient for a desktop now?) It was a Dell and I was so P.O’ed because one, I was very excited to get the new computer since I was leaving my full time job and did not have a personal computer, gasp! Only to be so disappointed with Dell when it came because I was missing a code sticker on the side that wouldn’t allow me to unlock all my Microsoft Applications. I spent three days on the phone being bounced from one support center to another and after 32 hours on the phone (about 30 hours of it on hold) I gave up.
I know I shouldn’t have, but really, I was 9 months pregnant with an 16 month old baby at my feet, overwhelmed at not working full time anymore and my house was under severe construction. By the time I got back to wanting to use the applications that I couldn’t get to work at all because I wasn’t an “authorized” user, it was too late and I just never used them.
That desktop is now so slooooowwwww that I generally only use it for Word and Excel and rely on my little laptop that I got last summer. The downside of the laptop is that it has VISTA that I think SUCKS and I didn’t get Microsoft Office installed because I was afraid of spending too much money… another dumb mistake but I generally work 90% of the time on the internet and use notebook or Google Docs so it hasn’t been too bad.
My family does give me a hard time about constantly having the laptop within an arms reach and being “addicted” but until I am making my million dollars a year I’m pounding my keyboard, listening and learning and tweaking tweaking tweaking. This brings me to my new keyboard and mouse… ohhhhh it’s so nice… it’s almost better then sex… my fingers are gliding over the keyboard and a fully functional mouse oh my not my little oily finger leaving tracks on my touch pad.
I’m so easy to please, it’s not even a high end keyboard I think I splurged $40.00 on this Logitech Wireless Desktop at BJ’s Wholesale club and it came with the wireless mouse & keyboard… but all the buttons to explore- wait- is that sound? Can I actually control my volume from that little button? Oh and look at that I just popped up my calculator with one button no need to go to Start-and scroll through my folders. Okay 1 million dollars divided by a $27.00 EBook means I only need to sell approx WOW maybe I should scale that a little. The keys have a cheaper, lighter feel then my desktop keyboard and I wish it offered a bit more of an angle to it- the footers don’t add much value to the angle. But the buttons are smooth and easy to push especially since I’m used to typing on the laptop itself.
I found this wireless keyboard and mouse on Amazon for around $33.00 and it had some various reviews. I’m sure there are those that are really into their gadgets so like I said, I’m easy to please- I opened up the box, plugged the receiver into my usb port, popped the batteries in and was typing this post within 5 minutes I’m getting old so I sit at my laptop to work and not across the room so the distance that was one complaint doesn’t apply to me since I can’t even tell it’s wireless except I don’t have wires dangling over my papers.
Guess I’ll throw my husband for a loop and thank him when he gets home and tell him I’ll pretend he gave it to me since he didn’t give me a birthday present last month. That works right?

Blast from the Past night. I really wasn’t looking to surf the web, I’m trying to shut donw the computers for the night and my husband fell asleep in the bunk beds putting the boys to bed (yes, they are still awake and he is not)…. but tonight I found a site that had the fantastic old game of Space Invaders, I loved this game! Played on the old Intellivision that todays XBox & Playstation kids could never understand. My fingers used to go numb from playing this game because we had to push the buttons so hard. Ahhh the good ole days…. check out and see if you can find your old favorite game here.Â

We made our trip to see the pediatric behavioral optometrist today to have Taylors vision checked for the tracking issues that we think may be causing some of her reading difficulty.
While waiting I picked up a copy of their Holiday Shopping List, a suggestion of about 40 toys that are safe (your perception of safe may vary) and good for vision.  I also noticed that most are also good for fine motor skills. I give complete credit to Vision Care Specialists in Southboro, MA for this list- for the full list click here and print it out!Â
However, I am proud to brag that this list features “good ole toys” that are the type of toys I like to buy anyway so I have a majority of these for the kids but did get the kids a few of the ones on the list we didn’t have yet. GOOD LUCK!
- Lite Brite
- Battleship- I spend many hours playing this against my six year old
- Chalkboard- really, what can be simplier and let the imagination wander? Put this together with the “Harold and the Purple Crayon” book set and some fun chaulk and you have a perfect gift.
- Tinker Toys
- Erector set
- Dot to Dot Coloring Books
- Jigsaw puzzles
- Indian beads for threading
- Painting by Number
- Toss Across (tic tac toe)
- Memory
- Checkers
- Tiddlywinks- Oh I miss my grammy who I spent hours playing this game with!
- Lincoln logs
- Legos - we spend many family nights filled with building legos
- Operation- we have the Simpsons version
- Dance Dance Revolution
- Finger Paints
- Connect Four
- Ring Toss- they have an affordable good indoor set in Oriental Trading
- Card Games- crazy eights, old maid and uno are my favorites
- Action Darts Velcro Board and covered balls- hmmm, I wonder if those foam dart guns count?
- Dominoes
They had several more but I thought those were my top choices since they are winners in my family.
What about Rummikub?? MY personal all time favorite even though my husband tends to kick my butt most nights, I still love this game and my kids are getting good with the numbers.

My six year old is my challenging child. I don’t mean this in a negative way, but I believe EVERY family has “THAT” child - you know the one that you can mutter the saying “your lucky you’re so cute” under your breath at least a couple times a week.
I love him love him love him but he is one that knows how to push the buttons and likes to challenge every word- if I say black he says white- I’ve gone thru various techniques on what to say and what to do, picked my battles and so on but I have to admit it becomes so tiring on some days. It’s not even the justifying that’s the hard part it’s the endless temper tantrums. While they are getting better as he gets older there are days that I just need to walk away biting my lip. Those are the days that make you question your own parenting and if you are doing something wrong in the big picture of parenting …. then watch the clock till five oclock for a big glass of wine… ohhh relax… that last part is a joke (sort of :))
Last month at my wits end I scribbled a grid on a piece of paper and posted it on my fridge. For every day he makes it without a screaming melt down he gets a big check for the day he doesn’t he gets an X. I try to keep as neutral and matter of fact as possible AND give him a chance to change an X into a check by doing a chore or being helpful.
Now, I found this cool tool- the BETTER BEHAVIOR WHEEL and I have to say I have added it to my stocking list. It’s a tool that parents and kids can use together and it’s simple enough to use without being another item added to the “To Do” list.Â
Better yet, no trying to find it in the store or waiting for the mail you can download it and start using it right away. It comes with eight themes including excessive arguing, leaving on the lights, not putting things away, stretching the truth, taking without asking, talking back and a positive wheel of just desserts or allows you to use your own.
Click Here! For all the information and details and maybe you can surprise the mom in your family with a new tool for peace in your house!

November 29, 2007 | Leave a Comment
For those that are searching for unique and useful gifts for the kids on your shopping list this year check out the Bear Hands selection of fun hats, mittens and scarves. I found these a couple years ago at a trade show and not only do my kids love wearing them, they always get comments and fun reactions from people.
Not only are they fun and different but they wear and wash great. After several rounds in the washer I was very happy they did not lose the softness (for my texture sensitive kid) and they did not pill like some fleece does. For those of us that have a large assortment of winter belongings??? Each kid has their own “animal” theme so I know who really left their hat in the middle of the living room
This product is an A in my book!
Shop online for a wide selection of frogs, horses, bears, dogs and cats that are built into the hats with matching animal scarves- it’s like letting them bring a stuffed animal with a purpose to do errands and fun in the snow.Â
